This tool provides estimates only — it is not a quote and not an eligibility or subsidy determination. Final eligibility, premium tax credit amounts, and plan pricing are determined by HealthCare.gov (or your state marketplace) based on your complete application. Questions, answered

What is a Special Enrollment Period?

A Special Enrollment Period (SEP) lets you enroll in or change Marketplace health coverage outside the annual Open Enrollment Period, triggered by a qualifying life event like losing coverage, moving, marriage, or having a baby. Most SEPs run 60 days from the event.

Does this tool guarantee I qualify for a SEP?

No. It's an educational starting point based on the event type and timing you enter — it is not an eligibility determination. HealthCare.gov (or your state marketplace) makes the final determination, sometimes requiring documentation of the event.

What if my 60-day window already passed?

You may still have options depending on your situation and income — some SEPs work differently, and certain low-income situations allow enrollment more flexibly. A licensed advisor can check whether any other SEP applies before you wait for the next Open Enrollment.

Do I need proof of my qualifying event?

Often yes — the Marketplace may ask for documentation such as a termination letter, marriage certificate, or lease agreement. We can help you understand what's needed for your specific event.

Not sure if you qualify?

We check your exact situation and, if you qualify, help you enroll — free. Also see the FPL calculator for subsidy-relevant income context.
